Wow! What a great week it has been here at Kennesaw Elementary! It was great to see everyone after the February break and hear about all of their adventures. This week we celebrated artist Ashley Bryan and had a wonderful Arts Integration day. We love using the Arts to enhance our learning! On Thursday we also celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday and Read Across America. We had a skype session with others across the county and completed a Dr. Seuss STEM project.

Wow! February has been a busy month so far! We have had a lot of exciting things happening in our classroom and at Kennesaw Elementary. If you haven't heard, Kennesaw Elementary was one the recipients of a grant (KICKSTART Cobb w/ Arts Now). We are really excited about this because it has helped us to explore ways to engage students and incorporate the arts in our daily activities. In our classroom we have tried several of the strategies such as Story Whoosh and Pantomiming. This week we have also enhanced our writing by producing a Shadow Puppet (complete with images and animations) and by writing letters to our favorite Disney characters. We hope we'll get some letters back! Don't forget to ask your child about what we're learning in school! We're excited to continue exploring Fairy Tales through Arts Integration strategies and for our class Valentines exchange next week.
Wow! What a busy month January has been! I'm excited to have a "normal" 5 day week this week and to get back to our regular routine.

Our writing goal for this quarter is to state our opinion, provide reasons and examples to support our opinion, and provide a closure. We will be sharing our opinion about various topics including our opinions about books. Math EQ: How can I use addition and subtraction strategies? In math we will be using addition and subtraction strategies to solve equations using 2 and 3 digit numbers to 1,000. We will also focus on word problems and checking our work.
